Reduced transmission of IHHNV to Penaeus monodon from shrimp pond wastewater filtered through a polychaete-assisted sand filter (PASF) system

چکیده
A polychaete-assisted sand filter (PASF) can aid water recirculation systems for shrimp culture ponds by removing large amounts of nutrients and suspended solids chemically treating wastewater. By ingesting degrading organic matter, Perinereis helleri polychaetes reared in a PASF accumulate potentially remove infectious hypodermal hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) present wastewater from rearing virus-infected Penaeus monodon shrimp. Reported here are data showing that filtering pond through reduces its potential to transmit IHHNV. The trial employed 3 groups 4 tanks each containing 20 P. randomly selected which only low-level IHHNV infection was evident at moderate prevalence (IHHNV-low Pond 2). Over 2 week period, tank group supplied with either the same (Pond 2) or IHHNV-high 1, 100% prevalent ~10 -fold higher loads, directly after being filtered PASF. real-time qPCR on total nucleic acid (TNA) extracted pleopods 35 random identified an elevated (91%) tested 1. Specific allergy to Penaeus monodon (seawater shrimp) or Macrobrachium rosenbergii (freshwater shrimp) in shrimp-allergic children.
BACKGROUND Allergy to specific shrimp species has not been studied systematically by oral challenges. A comparison of allergy to different shrimp species, especially seawater or freshwater varieties treatment, would be useful in testing shrimp-allergic subjects. OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to identify cases of specific allergy to seawater shrimp, Penaeus monodon (Pm), or freshwater shr...
متن کاملPenaeus monodon (tiger shrimp) hemocyanin: subunit composition and thermostability.
Penaeus monodon (class Crustacea, order Decapoda) is one of the largest shrimps of the Penaeidea family from the Indo-West Pacific region. The dioxygen-transporting protein hemocyanin, isolated from the hemolymph of this invertebrate, is composed of three 75-76 kDa structural/functional subunits designated as Pm1, Pm2 and Pm3. The N-terminal sequences of the chains were determined and compared ...

To investigate the coagulation system in crustacean decapoda, a homodimeric glycoprotein of 380 kDa was purified from the hemolymph of tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) by sequential DEAE anion exchange chromatography. The purified protein was coagulated by the shrimp hemocyte transglutaminase in the presence of Ca2+. The clottable protein contains 44% alpha helices and 26% beta sheets as determin...
متن کاملAntimicrobial peptides from the black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon – a review
Black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon is one of the major shrimp species being cultured in Asian countries. Disease outbreaks have resulted in a decline of P. monodon cultivation and severe losses in the shrimp production. To combat harmful microorganisms, shrimp produce diverse classes of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) as part of their immune defense. In P. monodon, several cDNA sequences of AMPs ...
